June 6 Santander to Comillas 30 miles

Wow!We must have needed rest.  Waking up this morning at 7 and getting ready to move on slowly.
Looks like they'll be some rain today.  Yesterday we were planning to ride 40 miles; today we're taking it as it comes. If we feel like stopping earlier, we will.
Moods change freely on this trip. It's different from the Camino De Santiago in that we are not swept up into the tide of peregrinos all walking the same route. The Camino does not drive the local businesses.  We see peregrinos walking. They are here and we've talking with a few and waved "buen Camino" as we ride by. Most stay at the albuergues and since we are not, we don't have the evening camaraderie.  That will most likely change when the route dips down and joins the Camino de Santiago further west. So this is more like the bicycle touring we have done in the past.  Ok. Time to rise and shine!

30 miles today. It's 5 pm. A routine is forming. Shower, wash some clothes, CC wrings them and hangs them up.  We are in a lovely beach town.  A stroll. A dip our feet in, a beverage and snack ,another stroll or sit and then dinner later.  And repeat.  When the hills are too much, our bikes turn into llamas or burros.  Today's ride was strenuous but also fun and pretty riding through villages wit the smell of manure trailing us (from the cows).  We both like the smell.

The place we're staying at has a view of the ocean and private bathroom. 35 Euros.  Pension Vega de Paz.

Yes, we are on the Camino!

Santiago here we come!

Lunch.

The view from our room.
